Chatsworth Metrolink crash was 9 years ago Tuesday

LOS ANGELES September 12, 2017, marked the ninth anniversary of the 2008 Chatsworth train crash, considered the largest commuter rail disaster in state history. The crash occurred when a Metrolink train collided head-on with a Union Pacific freight that resulted in 25 dead and 135 injured. Engineer Robert Sanchez ran a red light while sending text messages from his cell phone, a National Transportation Safety Board report concluded. He also died in the crash.
